At White Koi Wellness you will expand your way of thinking to live freely and fully.

Our Food Philosophy

I am here to help you improve your relationship with food and feel your best. My name is Mikaela, and I am a registered and licensed dietitian.

I specialize in eating disorders and disordered eating, and have gained experience at Fairwinds Treatment Center, Center for Discovery and The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. By utilizing the all foods fit with moderation, variety and balance philosophy, I believe we can work together to help you finally make peace with food and enjoy eating again. Let's eliminate the guilt and shame as you learn to accept yourself and appreciate all your body is capable of!

The White Koi Wellness approach is all about finding balance with food, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is about learning to fuel our bodies and minds in a way that doesn't make us feel deprived or limit or quality of life.

Regardless of your age, gender or health conditions, I can help you find a way of eating that will help you to feel your best. I have additional clinical experience working with a variety of health conditions, including food allergies, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. I utilize a balanced food approach that is catered this to your individualized needs based upon your lifestyle and health conditions.

Ready to start making peace with food?

Here is a beautiful haiku by Morgan Sinclair about diets:

No No No No No

No No No No No No No

No No No No No

Why is this beautiful? Because it represents the truth that we have all come to realize:

Diets Don't Work.

I'll repeat:

Diet's Don't Work

Unless of course your goals are slowed metabolism, reduced muscle tissue, obsessive thoughts about food, increased risk for heart disease, nutrient deficiencies and disordered eating. Diets can work for that. But, I don't think that's why you're here.

That is why at White Koi Wellness we take a non-diet approach to food with intuitive eating and Health at Every Size. This approach eliminates the concept of "good" or "bad" foods and allows all foods to fit. You will never be shamed for your food choices or weight, and we will work together to promote variety, moderation and balance to help you to feel your best.

This approach focuses on accepting and respecting the natural diversity of body shapes and sizes, that health is not about weight but rather is about physical, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being, and it promotes eating a manner that balances needs, hunger, satiety, appetite and pleasure.

So that, finally, you can find peace with food.
